Our Mission

The Yates County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to building adequate, decent, affordable houses for Yates County families in need.

Families are selected for the program based on their need; their willingness to put in 500 hours of "sweat equity" in the building or renovating of their home; and their ability to handle payments on a low interest mortgage, which we help them apply for from organizations like the USDA 502 Loan Program.

The mortgage is meant to cover materials cost and any construction services we may need to contract for, like roofing. Payment on the mortgage provides our chapter the resources necessary to build a home for the next family.
